Q: How can I reactivate Apollo AirMap on a new computer or after a Windows-Reinstallation
on the same computer ?
Close FlightSimulator before any
activation/deactivation!
A: The license for APOLLO AirMap is locked to the PC, where AirMap
is installed the first time, normally directly after purchase and after the first
activation. I.e., on another PC or on the same
PC, after upgrading to Windows XP or VISTA or Windows 7, the APOLLO AirMap product can no longer be used.
However, it is easily possible to re-activate
AirMap on a new PC again. It is
only required to execute again the AirMapActivator on the new PC and to enter the
serial number of the product. Note that an active internet connection is required
to run and activate AirMap.
The current version of AirMapActivator can be found here:

Q: Network installation: how to
install and activate AirMap-X in a network
?
A: The licenses for all computers
in a network on which AirMapX is installed must be
installed and activated only on the server
pc. The server is the computer
where Flightsimulator is
installed. Activation of a license on a client
computer in the network is not required.
A license on a server can be transferred
to another server pc, but must never be transferred from the server computer to a client
PC, otherwise AirMap will no longer work.
To install any AirMap charts on a client
pc which is connected to the server pc
running flightsimulator, the install
program needs to be run twice; once on
the server pc and once on the client pc
because the license and several system files
always have to be installed on the
server pc, while the charts have to be
on the client pc. The order in which you
perform these two installations (first
on the server, then on the client or
vice versa) is irrelevant. It is also
possible to install and use the charts
on both pc's, server and client.
Network installation
In the AirMap install program,
1. Install AirMap on client pc and choose the 3rd menu item:
Client (install maps for AirMapX.
Flightsimulator runs on remote pc)
2. Now run the same install program
again on the server pc running
flightsimulator, this time select the
2nd menu item:
Server (install maps for AirMapX.
Flightsimulator runs on this pc).

The first menu option (Standard, install
maps only) is used only for local,
non-network installations.
If you never intend to use the charts
on the server pc but only on the
client, then all chart folders on the
server pc can be manually deleted from
the \APOLLO\AirMap chart directory after
the installation is finished.
Attention:
if you inadvertently delete any other
files except map data, AirMap will not work anymore and
will have to be reinstalled. No support
is available for manually corrupted
installations.

Q: Can I transfer an AirMap license offline from one computer to another ?
A: No. Offline execution of AirMap and offline-activation of AirMap
products are not supported.

|
Q: Can AirMap-X also run in fullscreen mode ?
A: AirMap-X may be used together with
Flightsimulator on the same pc in
fullscreen mode (with certain
restrictions) if your graphics card
supports multi-monitor configuration or
on a dual graphic card setup.
Flightsimulator will then run in fullscreen mode and AirMap-X in windowed mode.
For best full screen results we
recommend to use AirMap-X on a separate
pc in a network configuration though.

Q: Which operating systems are supported ?
A: AirMap will run under Vista
x32, and Windows 7 x32 and x64. Windows XP is no longer supported.
Installations under several different
Windows versions or multi-boot
configurations are not supported.

Q: Can AirMap charts be exported,
imported or used with other software ?
A: No.
AirMap-X was designed to work
exclusively with Microsoft
FlightSimulator FSX, FS2004 and X-Plane.
The charts were optimised specifically
to run with these flightsimulators and
can not be exported or used with any
other GPS or similar navigation software.

Q: Simconnect problems ?
A: After
AirmapX installation for FSX/FS2004 is
finished, the
next time FlightSimulator starts you
will see message boxes
with security warning similar to these:

Click on "Run" and "Yes" to accept
AirmapConnect.dll as "Trusted" software.
A new line under the section "[Trusted]" will be added
automatically into the fsx.cfg file,
located normally on your drive C:
Assuming AirMap is installed at
D:\APOLLO
the entry will look like:
[Trusted]
D:\Apollo\AirMap\System\AirMapConnect.dll.zhurakeazuraatrbeonqizqkkzliiurkhnbcqczb=1
the string
"zhurakeazuraatrbeonqizqkkzliiurkhnbcqczb"
will be different on each pc.
Under
english Windows7 x64 versions, fsx.cfg is located
under this path:
C:\Users\<your pc user
name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.CFG
You need to activate "show hidden files
and folders" in windows explorer to be
able to find fsx.cfg on your hard
drive.
If you do not accept AirmapConnect.dll
as "Trusted" software, AirMapX will not
function and networked versions will not
be able to connect to FlightSimulator.
You may get this error message:
"Simconnect module can not be loaded.
Check your Simconnect installation."
If you have also installed APOLLO
GlobalXplorer or any of the
ICAO/Topo/VFR sectionals chart GAU based
AirMap instruments, the procedure is
similar and there will be a line added
to the fsx.cfg file like this:
[Trusted]
D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft
Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator
X\GAUGES\ApolloGarminGps.GAU.wwunqhoiwauenazcrqrizloakrquikctchinlenh=2.
The string
"wwunqhoiwauenazcrqrizloakrquikctchinlenh=2"
will be different on each pc.

After installing AirMap .GAU
type instruments for the first time or
after installing updated versions later:
For GAU-based AirMap instruments like
GlobalXplorer or any AirMap chart-only
GAU instruments like ICAO/Topo/VFR
sectional products, you will see these
message boxes and you will have to
accept them as "TRUSTED" software the
next time FlightSimulator starts:

Q: AirMapX window invisible ?
A: If you plan to run
FlightSimulator and AirMapX on a single
pc, on a single monitor, you can not run
FlightSimulator in exclusive, full
screen mode. This would temporarily
disable the display of the AirMapX
window, which is hidden invisibly behind
the fullscreen FlightSimulator window.
Instead run FlightSimulator in windowed
mode. This will run and display both
applications simultaneously. This is a
general feature of Windows: only one
application can be active in fullscreen
mode at a time.

Q: FlightSimulator pauses
everytime you click a button in the
AirMapX instrument ?
A: AirMapX is a
stand-alone application. Unlike APOLLO
GlobalXplorer and all default .GAU type
cockpit instruments (radios, GPS,
throttles etc), it does not run
within FlightSimulator. Therefore
FlightSimulator would pause momentarily
everytime you click any button on the
AirMapX instrument or switch over to any other
windows application. To avoid pauses in
FlightSimulator while working with the
AirMapX instrument, disable "Pause on
task switch" or "Pause bei
Anwendungswechsel" (in german versions)
in FlightSimulator under
"Options-Settings-General".
You can run FlightSimulatorX in
fullscreen mode without this limitation
if AirMapX runs on a separate networked
pc.

A: No. AirMapX is a
very advanced software product using its
own communication software. All network
communications are handled from within
AirMapX. No additional 3rd party tools
are required for AirMapX to communicate
with FlightSimulator or x-plane over
windows networks. You only have to setup
a normal windows network.
